Another Year

As this year is ending, I'm remembering happier times. There have been so many struggles and regrets,
if I could have a chance to do somethings over, make them better, sigh. With that in mind my New Years
resolution is to not dwell on the past and have more fun.
(Easier to keep a resolution without any specific goals, ha)
Early next year I will be moving to another city, with a more permanent place to paint and new opportunities.
As alway I'm in the process of new projects.

New Website and Upcoming Projects

My website is up and running. There will be several technical and minor changes in the next couple of weeks. Next week I'll be finishing a promotional drawing I'm doing for a yoga studio.

Sometime in 2008 I'll be drawing more nudes. They will be in a nudist publication. Years of figure drawing comes in handy.
Aside from that, I'm working on several promotional pieces for myself.

Guild Residential Sourcebook

Here are the images from my page in the new Guild book.

Thoughts after Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving I spent a couple hours at a food kitchen. There was a lot of free food and the walls were a lime green,
which I loved. Since then I have been thinking of the satisfaction and fun I've had volunteering,
and the many generous people who've helped me. With that in mind I compiled 7 of my favorite organizations with links.
They are alphabetically listed and combined with my other links.

Organic Valley Coop, Family Farm Defenders and Sow the Seeds Fund have some useful information about farming and about the food we eat, that anyone can use. Aside from that I included these 3 because there is info and a place to donate money for the farmers in parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa who were affected by the flooding in August.

Second Harvest is a food bank to help feed hungry people. Restore is a store connected to Habitat for Humanity. You can donate things from your home: doors, sinks, windows, nails... All of these items are reused when someone buys them and they are kept out of the landfill. Jane Lachapelle McCarty Fund is a fund set up in memorial to my friend Jane who passed away in 2004. The donated money goes to help finance the Virtues Project.

I've included The Appalachian Community Fund, because I don't often hear information from this area. My Mom is from the hills of Kentucky and I have fond memories of the storytelling, food, music and more. There is a lot going on there and wish there was more news about it. A good documentary filmed in Kentucky about a coal mining strike in the 70's is Harlan County, later made into a movie with Holly Hunter, also good.

Guild Sourcebook of Residential Art 6

Today a page with 3 of my barns was published on the new Guild Residential Sourcebook 6. To find my page go to www.guild.com click on Residential Sourcebook then paintings and prints. I'm on the first page right hand side. A hard copy will be printed with tearsheets, early next year. A special thanks to the most excellent and generous Geoffrey Cook and all the work he's done for me, taking pictures layout...

This month I'll start working on a couple of new project, both black and white drawings. One will be another nude or nudes and a yoga pose. This week I'm expecting a new website.

New website and more

My new website should be up and
running in the next week or two.
Technical work is being done,
switching information and servers...
Recently I've moved and will have
to move again in December.
While moving, I injured my back and
ended up in the hospital,
recovering more or less 4 days later
after lots of sleep and
pain medication. For the time being
I have not been able to get to
my paints. In December I will be
more settled and back to painting along
with upcoming projects and
a book coming out in February with some
of my barn paintings.

How to write on a blog.

Someone pointed out to me she doesn't know how to write on a blog. You click below the image on comments, it's pink or blue. That takes you to where you write a comment. You do not have to be a member, which is how it usually is on the blogs. From what I've seen anyway.

The Devil Inside

He is the critic, filling the head with self-doubt, regrets, fears, and overall destructive thoughts. Good-luck pulling him out.

I'm back, more art work coming soon, this week or next.

Recently, I've been going through things I haven't looked at in a long time, along with it getting rid of several boxes of stuff. Like a lot of Americans I have too much stuff and not enough money. ha. In a couple of months, when it's cooler I'll be moving to another city.

There are a few projects I've been working on this summer. A couple of illustrations will be coming out in August, a cover for a literary book this fall, a poster for a film, more paintings...So far there are a couple of projects planned for the winter too.

Next week-end I'm going to be working at an art fair in Madison and visiting with some friends. It will be a lot of fun. One of the perks working there is free food coupons. A gal's got to have fun, guy's too.

Welcome to my new blog.

Today I went to a state park to distract myself from work and this computer.
It worked. 3 wild turkeys walked right in front of me, I walked a lot, more fun than the gym. Distracting myself from thoughts of work, I fantacized about when I would be swimming outside in one of the nearby lakes. Then walking towards the beach I was knocked out by the rotting smell of thousands of sheephead fish.

In the next couple of months I'll be uploading new editorial work and paintings. For now I'm haivng technical difficulties with my web site, ugh.
